Common Ground
An independent journal of growing things.
Closer to the everyday.
Common Ground is a fictional print journal about the small relationships between people, plants, and places. The concept treats ordinary observations as material worth slowing down for.
Role & scope
The work brings together an editorial premise, cover system, typographic direction, and original geometric botanical illustrations.
The process
A firm grid provides structure; botanical forms are allowed to bend around it. Green ink and uncoated-paper tones make the publication feel practical and familiar. Large type gives each cover enough presence to stand alone.
The outcome
A repeatable editorial language that accommodates both long-form stories and brief field notes. The tension between strict typography and organic forms is the central idea. This is a self-initiated publication concept, not an existing magazine.
